Background in Art & Psychology

Ben Payne has been working as an artist for a long time and had been passionate about art for his whole life. He is a self-taught artist for the most part, but much of his learning took place at an early stage of his life. This was down to the fact that his mother was an artist. Whilst Ben pursued other areas such as Psychology, in which he gained a degree, he always carried on with art as a central passion.

Communicating Through Art

Whilst Ben was working as a Behavioural Therapist, he specialised in work with young children with autism. This experience taught him so much about how to communicate in a direct, accessible, simple and clear way, and yet not to lose any meaningfulness. Ben has said that he credits this time with teaching him how to approach art in a similar way. It is due to this approach that Ben is able to paint in a way that displays a certain level of innocence that cuts through any sense of pretension.

It was in 2003 that Ben turned his passion into his fully fledged career. This came of the back of already having started to show and sell his art which he had been creating in his free time. There was therefore already a buzz around his name. And indeed when he turned professional, Ben Payne's art found its way instantly into one of the country's leading fine art galleries. Success has continued for Ben, with his solo exhibitions having proved successful across the UK. His work has also sold well, with sell-out publications of his limited edition prints being highly sought after. Plus, it is not just in the UK that Ben Payne's art is much loved, as he has now sold original paintings in 22 countries across the globe.
